15th Place in the League and AC Milan Is STILL Eyeing This Manager?!

Man, you won't believe what's cooking over in Italy! Ruben Amorim, the dude who just stumbled through 14 chaotic months leading Manchester United, is reportedly the top pick to take over AC Milan. Seriously, the Rossoneri are talking to a manager who couldn't bag a single trophy at Old Trafford and dragged United to a brutal 15th-place finish in 2024,25, their absolute worst Premier League season ever. How wild is that?!

Milan's Desperate Pivot: A Sinking Ship Needs a Captain

Let's talk about Amorim's resume before Milan came knocking. His time at United? Rough, man. He was out on January 5 after leading them to that shocking 15th-place finish and was still only in sixth after 20 games in early 2025,26. No trophies, just a whole lot of turbulence. And now, he's the leading candidate for AC Milan. Milan just cleaned house big time, ditching manager Massimiliano Allegri, Sporting Director Igli Tare, CEO Giorgio Furlani, and Technical Director Geoffrey Moncada. Why the drastic move? They totally missed out on the Champions League, finishing fifth in Serie A after a heartbreaking 2,1 loss to Cagliari on the final matchday. That put them one point behind Como for fourth, so it's Europa League for them next season. Amorim's gonna walk into a San Siro that's been called a "sinking ship," collecting only 70 points from 38 matches last season, a full 17 points behind their arch-rivals, newly crowned champions Inter Milan. Talk about pressure!

United's Reboot vs. Milan's Second Choice

Here's the kicker: Amorim wasn't even Milan's first option! The Athletic reports they originally wanted former Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola. But get this, Liverpool snatched him up on a two-year deal after Arne Slot got the boot. Classic, right? Milan had to scramble, looking at USMNT manager Mauricio Pochettino, Oliver Glasner from Crystal Palace, and even Al Ahli's Matthias Jaissle, according to Fabrizio Romano. Meanwhile, back at Old Trafford, Man United isn't looking back for a second. Michael Carrick took over and absolutely crushed it in the second half of the season, vaulting them to third place in the Premier League and qualifying for the Champions League. Fans and players, like Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes, are absolutely buzzing about Carrick, who just signed a two-year deal as the permanent boss. United is already making moves to beef up their squad, reportedly snagging Atalanta midfielder Éderson to replace Casemiro, and they're chasing more talent to make a real run at the Premier League title in 2026,27. So, what's next? Amorim could be in Italy, battling to drag AC Milan back to glory, with all eyes on him to fix that sinking ship. It's going to be a wild ride, and you know we'll be watching every twist and turn! Get ready, Milan fans, because this could be a bumpy one.
