206 Homers in a Season and Nobody in College Ball Is Ready For UCLA's Power Surge

Alright, you know me, my heart lives and breathes with the Seahawks, Kraken, M's, and Sounders. But sometimes, you just gotta tip your cap to pure, unadulterated sports dominance. What UCLA just did to Arkansas in the Women's College World Series? Seriously, folks, it was a clinic. They absolutely demolished the Razorbacks, taking an 11-0 run-rule victory in just five innings! We're talking four home runs blasted into the Oklahoma City sky. Unbelievable.

The Nine-Run Explosion That Broke the Game Open

You wanna talk about dropping the hammer? The Bruins hung a *nine-run second inning* on Arkansas that would make even the best MLB lineups blush. Three of those four dingers came in that single inning! Aleena Garcia kicked it off right away, sending the first pitch she saw from Payton Burnham over the fence. After a little traffic on the bases, Soo-Jin Berry then launched her fifth homer of the season, pushing it to 4-0 and sending Burnham to the showers. But wait, there's more! Megan Grant, extending her NCAA record with a mind-blowing 42nd home run this season, smashed a three-run shot on her very first pitch too. It was a parade of power, with 14 batters stepping up to the plate. Kaniya Bragg capped off the madness with a two-run double, just to rub a little extra salt in the wound. What an inning!

Record-Breaking Bombs and Pitching Perfection

They weren't done there, either. UCLA tacked on another run in the third via a wild pitch, then Jolyna Lamar got in on the fun with a solo shot in the fifth. This team is just built different. They've now hit a ridiculous 206 home runs on the season, extending their own NCAA record! Before this year, the record was *161*. Think about that power surge. And while the bats were red hot, Taylor Tinsley was absolutely freezing Arkansas at the plate. She went the full five innings, giving up only three hits, with two walks and two strikeouts. A complete game gem when her team needed it, moving UCLA to an insane 53-9 record for the year. That's how you get it done! So yeah, while we're all laser-focused on our M's fighting it out every night, sometimes you gotta acknowledge greatness when you see it. UCLA is on another level right now, and they're set to face the loser of Saturday's Texas Tech-Tennessee game next in an elimination game. For our own boys in teal, the Mariners pulled off a nail-biter against the Diamondbacks, winning 7-6. Every win counts, M's fans! Let's keep that momentum rolling as we keep pushing through this early season grind. Fingers crossed our guys can start hitting homers like that soon!
