50% of Fans Voted For *This* Man United Win, And It Proved Carrick Was The Real Deal

Alright, listen up, because if you thought the Premier League couldn't deliver more drama, you clearly missed what went down this past season for Manchester United. After a straight-up rough 2024/25 campaign, the Red Devils made a comeback that felt like something out of a movie script. And guess what? The fans, the real ones, just crowned one specific game as the absolute GOAT, and it perfectly sums up how one man turned everything around for them. We're talking about their wild 3-2 away win against Arsenal at the Emirates, a match so insane it snagged half of all fan votes for the best Premier League game of the season. No joke, this was a statement.

The Carrick Catalyst and United's Massive Glow-Up

Seriously, where do you even start with a turnaround like that? The 2024/25 season was a bust for United, a total disappointment. But everything changed in January when Michael Carrick stepped up as interim manager. This dude completely sparked their season into life, didn't he? Carrick guided the squad to a third-place finish, which means they're locked in for next season's Champions League. Think about the pressure on him, and he delivered huge victories against rivals like Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa. That's a serious gauntlet of wins! Not only that, but United was just way more impressive in front of goal. They were stuck at a paltry 44 goals in 2024/25, but this past season, they absolutely smashed in 69. Only champions Arsenal and Manchester City actually scored more in the league. Talk about a glow-up for the Red Devils.

The Emirates Epic That Blew Everyone Away

Among all those cracking games and outstanding goals, one match stands head and shoulders above the rest: the 3-2 away win over Arsenal at the Emirates. The Premier League's official website confirmed it, announcing, "five-goal thriller at Emirates Stadium chosen by fans as top Premier League match of season." They continued, "Arsenal 2-3 Manchester United has been voted as the best match of the 2025/26 Premier League season. It received a whopping 50 per cent of votes from fans, beating Man Utd 4-4 AFC Bournemouth, Fulham 4-5 Manchester City, and nine other standout matches shortlisted." Fifty percent! That's insane. And get this: the game was only Carrick's second in charge. His second! Can you even believe the pressure? United fell behind early when Lisandro Martinez unfortunately deflected in an own goal. But just before half-time, Bryan Mbeumo capitalized on a mistake and beat David Raya to equalize. Then, Patrick Dorgu scored an absolute stunner from range to put the visitors ahead. United got pegged back in the final ten minutes when Mikel Merino scrambled in a classic Gunners' corner kick. Phew, you could feel the tension! Finally, the Red Devils landed the final blow when Brazilian Matheus Cunha spectacularly curled in the winner, sparking wild celebrations. Seriously, you had to see it. That game, the one that snagged half the fan votes, was more than just three points. It proved to be vital for setting the tone of Carrick's tenure at the club and showed everyone what United was capable of. The energy from that match? That's what United needs to carry into their Champions League campaign next season. You just know those supporters are hyped for what's next.
