Adalyne Montiel's Fourth Straight Title and Nobody in Washington Is Ready For It

Alright, Emerald City! You guys hear about the absolute DOMINANCE that just went down at Mat Classic XXXVII? Seriously, the Tacoma Dome was electric on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, for Washington's premier high school wrestling event, and let me tell you, Toppenish's Adalyne Montiel just etched her name into history with a *fourth individual title*! And get this, her program snagged their *fifth straight team championship*. Yeah, you heard that right. This isn't just winning, this is building an empire right here in our backyard, and the rest of the state better be ready for what's coming next!

Toppenish Girls: A Dynasty Unmatched

Montiel's performance on that Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, was something truly special. To grab a fourth individual title, and then immediately celebrate her team's fifth straight program title? That's just unreal, pure grit personified. She even mentioned it felt a "little different than expected," but for those of us watching, it was pure, unadulterated triumph, a masterclass in consistency and skill. Her Toppenish girls were absolutely on fire! And speaking of Toppenish, their boys side, led by the incredible Justyce Zuniga, pulled off a fantastic second-place 2A finish. Zuniga himself snagged his own *fourth title*, a testament to a dominant wrestling career built around a fast pace virtually no one else could match. Toppenish is just stacked with top-tier talent, plain and simple, and they showed up big in the Tacoma Dome.

Wapato, Granger, and More Champions Emerge

But hey, Toppenish wasn't the only squad tearing up the mats! Wapato's boys? They leaned on that legendary depth and absolutely *defended their 1A team title*. They truly reigned inside those circles, showing everyone that their foundation, built from the bottom up, is championship-caliber. Zillah certainly gave them a run for their money, finishing runner-up again, but still boasted three individual winners. You gotta respect that kind of competitive fire! Over in the 2B bracket, the Granger boys, those mighty Spartans, pulled off a narrow team title win. They weren't just lucky, they claimed a pair of individual titles, proving they're a consistent force to be reckoned with. And let's not sleep on the Granger girls, either! They locked in a hard-fought runner-up 1A/2B finish thanks to a trio of incredible performances. Gabrielle Berger went out in pure style with a repeat title, Sonia Mendoza finally got that title she's been chasing for four years with relentless determination, and freshman Vanessa Torres? She just launched her bid for the rarest of all prizes, starting her journey on the biggest stage. The future is incredibly bright for these young athletes across our state! So, yeah, the Tacoma Dome saw some serious history being made by Washington's best on Feb. 21, 2026. These athletes, from Toppenish to Wapato to Granger, they laid it all out there, every single match. They're setting the bar incredibly high for Washington high school wrestling, showing pure grit, relentless effort, and proving that champions are forged right here in the Evergreen State. What's next? Well, we'll be watching closely for those legacies to grow, for the returning champs to defend their crowns, and for the next generation of future stars to step up and chase those coveted titles. You know the drill, once a champ, always a champ! Can't wait to see what these young guns do next season for our state!
