Anthony Edwards Is Playing Game 1 Tonight and the Timberwolves Just Got a Massive Boost

The Minnesota Timberwolves got the green light they needed. All-Star Anthony Edwards has been cleared to play in tonight's Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals against the San Antonio Spurs, just 10 days after hyperextending his left knee. That's a huge development for a team trying to make a deep playoff run.

The Injury Timeline and the Quick Return

Edwards went down with the hyperextension on his left knee, and there was real uncertainty about whether he'd be available for the start of this series. But the Timberwolves put him through an expedited rehab process, and it worked. He's been cleared to suit up tonight against the Spurs. That's a fast turnaround, and it speaks to how much Minnesota values him in these playoffs and how important the medical staff felt this moment was.

What This Means for the Spurs Series

Having Edwards available immediately changes the complexion of this matchup. He's an All-Star for a reason, and getting him back in the lineup 10 days after a knee hyperextension isn't something you see happen every season. The Timberwolves will have their full firepower ready to go in Game 1. The Spurs aren't getting any favors here.

Puck drop is tonight. This is the basketball you've been waiting for all season. The Timberwolves and Edwards are both ready to prove they belong in this conversation.
