Brett Sullivan CRUSHED Two Homers and the Rockies Still Got TORCHED

Alright, what in the world happened out there on Wednesday afternoon in Denver? If you blinked, you missed a wild one. The Chicago Cubs absolutely dismantled the Colorado Rockies 9-3, and while some guys were having career days, it still wasn't enough to stop the bleeding. Seriously, it felt like the Rockies were just trying to survive out there, despite some seriously impressive individual heroics.

Cubs' Bats Explode, Suzuki Goes YARD

The Cubs' lineup came to play, no doubt about it. Seiya Suzuki launched a grand slam, his third career bomb and the first since way back on September 26, 2025, against St. Louis. That's the kind of swing that changes a game, and it sure did. After Pete Crow-Armstrong singled and swiped second, and Michael Busch added a single, Ian Happ got walked. Boom, bases loaded, Suzuki clears 'em out! But he wasn't alone in the home run club. Alex Bregman and Carson Kelly also went deep for Chicago, just piling on the misery for Colorado. Pete Crow-Armstrong and Michael Busch were spraying hits all over Coors Field, each snagging two knocks. Edward Cabrera, who picked up his fourth win of the season (4-3), put together a solid outing too, giving up just two runs on five hits through 5 1/3 innings. The dude held it down.

Sullivan's Solo Mission Can't Save Colorado

You gotta feel for Brett Sullivan, though. The guy had the game of his life, smashing not one, but *two* homers! Seriously, his first multi-homer game ever, and he even added a single for good measure. He got the Rockies on the board with a solo shot into the second deck in right in the third inning, making it 1-0 for a minute. Then, in the ninth, he crushed another solo dinger. Rookie Cole Carrigg wasn't to be outdone, hitting his first career dinger into the bullpen and adding a single himself. Troy Johnston collected three hits and Willi Castro singled twice. So yeah, the Rockies had some guys hitting the ball, but their starter, Ryan Feltner (now 2-2), just couldn't contain the Cubs. He got absolutely shelled for six runs on four hits in just 4 1/3 innings. Ouch. You can't win when your starter gets lit up like that, even if your bats are trying to keep up.

Manager Tossed, Bases Loaded Drama

Even with the Cubs cruising, things got heated. Manager Craig Counsell got tossed in the sixth inning after arguing that Ballesteros' double-play grounder should have been ruled foul. Apparently, it looked like he hit it off his right shin guard. Can you believe it? The manager getting ejected in the middle of a big lead! Talk about drama. Colorado tried to make a comeback in the bottom of that same inning, actually chasing Cabrera from the mound, but they left the bases loaded when Kyle Karros flew out and reliever Phil Maton struck out Ezequiel Tovar. That was their chance, and they blew it. Just a tough day all around for the home squad. What a rollercoaster, huh? On a side note, our own Seattle Mariners were in action today too, dropping one to the Baltimore Orioles, 7-2. We'll need to shake that off and get back on track next time out. We're still early in the season, and there's plenty of baseball left to play. Let's get it done, Emerald City!
