Byron Buxton Single-Handedly Carries Twins Past Guardians in 11 Innings

Byron Buxton did something you don't see every day: he accounted for both runs in Minnesota's walk-off win over Cleveland. That's right. Both. Runs. In an 11-inning marathon that came down to one player making the difference.

The Twin Towers (Just One Guy)

When you're in extra innings and your offense is grinding, you need someone to step up. Buxton didn't just step up. He was the entire offense. In a game that stretched into the 11th, the Twins' centerfielder was responsible for accounting for both runs that finally put this one away against the Guardians. That's the kind of performance that gets replayed and discussed for weeks. One player. Two runs. Series over.

What This Means for Minnesota Right Now

Early in the season, you need these kinds of wins. The Twins got one in the most dramatic way possible, and Buxton is the reason they're walking out of this one with a W instead of heading back to Minnesota with their tails between their legs. When you're battling in the Central and trying to establish yourself as a real threat, this is the type of game that sticks with a team. This is the kind of performance that becomes the turning point when you look back at the season in September.

The Guardians had to be frustrated. Cleveland brought everything they had into extra innings, but Buxton had other plans. Now it's time for Minnesota to keep that momentum rolling.
