Cal Raleigh Broke Out of His Slump in the Messiest Way Possible and the Mariners Crushed Houston

Sometimes the best thing a slumping hitter can do is take a shower. That's the vibe around Cal Raleigh right now after the Mariners' catcher snapped out of his funk in spectacular fashion, leading Seattle to a dominant 10-2 drubbing of the Houston Astros on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Park.

The specifics? Raleigh's breakthrough moment came with a little Charles Barkley energy. The Mariners' catching cornerstone found his way out of the skids in a way that felt equal parts ridiculous and exactly what the doctor ordered. Sometimes baseball is weird like that. You're pressing, you're frustrated, nothing is falling, and then you take a step back, reset, and suddenly you're locked in again. That's what happened here, and it showed up in the box score in a big way as Seattle's lineup came alive against Houston.

Dominance on Display

There's no other way to frame a 10-2 victory. That's a complete shutdown. The Mariners didn't just beat the Astros, they put them away early and coasted to a comfortable win. This is the kind of performance that matters in May when teams are still establishing their identity for the season ahead. Seattle showed up ready to play, and Houston had no answers.

What's Next

Raleigh getting right is huge for this lineup. When your catcher is locked in, it changes everything about your offense's rhythm and confidence. The Mariners will look to build on this momentum as they continue their push through the early season.
