Dante Fowler Jr. Inks Deal With Seahawks, Finally Plugs the Last Hole

It's official. After weeks of waiting and wondering, the Seahawks have brought in veteran pass rusher Dante Fowler Jr. on a one-year deal worth up to $5 million. This was the move everyone expected to happen, and now it's done. The roster just got a little more complete.

The Last Piece Falls Into Place

Mike Macdonald's defense needed a finishing touch, and Dante Fowler Jr. is it. The Seahawks have been circling this move for a while, and now they've finally pulled the trigger. Fowler brings the kind of veteran pass rush presence that can make a difference in the trenches, and for one year and up to $5 million, Seattle is getting a proven commodity who has played at the highest level.

What This Means for the Defense

This signing plugs what many saw as the last remaining roster hole heading into the offseason. A strong pass rush is foundational to any defense, and Fowler gives the Seahawks another proven option off the edge. He's got the experience and the track record to contribute right away, which is exactly what this team needed before training camp kicks off.

The Seahawks have been methodical about building their roster under Macdonald and offensive coordinator Brian Fleury. With Fowler now in the fold, the foundation looks solid heading into the summer. Training camp and the preseason will tell us how it all comes together, but on paper, this move addresses the final need.

Ready for What's Next

The offseason work is essentially complete. Now the real work begins in Renton. We'll see how Fowler fits with the rest of the defense when pads start flying around in camp. For now, Seahawks fans can feel good about the roster construction heading into what could be a fascinating first year under Macdonald's system with Sam Darnold under center.
