David Njoku Heads to LA on One-Year Deal Worth Up to $8 Million

The Los Angeles Chargers just inked tight end David Njoku to a one-year contract, and this is a move that changes the equation for their offense. According to NFL Network on Monday, the deal is worth up to $8 million for the 29-year-old pass catcher.

Njoku's Nine Seasons in Cleveland Come to an End

This marks a significant shift for Njoku, who has spent all nine of his NFL seasons with the Cleveland Browns. He's been a consistent presence in Cleveland's offense, ranking second among Browns tight ends in franchise history. Now he'll look to make an impact in a new uniform with the Chargers' passing attack.

What This Adds to LA's Weapons

The Chargers are beefing up their tight end room with a veteran who knows how to get open and move the chains. At 29 years old, Njoku still has plenty of productivity left in the tank. With the structure of this deal keeping the financial commitment relatively low at $8 million, LA is taking a calculated bet that a fresh start in Southern California could unlock another strong season from a proven NFL tight end.

The Chargers get an experienced option in their lineup while Njoku gets his first chance to suit up for a different team after a full decade in Cleveland. It's the kind of move that could pay dividends if both sides click right away.
