Drake Maye's Shoulder That Nearly Derailed the Super Bowl Run Is Finally Behind Him

Here's the thing about Super Bowl LX: Drake Maye threw a pain-killing injection into his shoulder and went to work anyway. The Patriots QB took two touchdowns and two interceptions on 27 of 43 completions for 295 yards in that loss to the Seahawks, playing through what could have been a season-ender for a lot of guys.

But that right shoulder issue? Water under the bridge now.

The Injection Was Just a Band-Aid

Maye confirmed Wednesday that he's doing "great" and has had "no problems at all" since the Super Bowl. Here's the real news: he didn't need offseason surgery. No procedure. No rehab nightmare heading into the new season. He managed the injury, gutted it out when it mattered most, and came out the other side clean.

That's the kind of toughness that matters when your team is building around you as the franchise QB. Maye took a shot, went to battle, and now he's moving forward without any lingering concerns.

The Receiving Corps Got Better Around Him

The Patriots are returning the key skill players Maye worked with in 2025, which keeps continuity in the offense. But they also added Romeo Doubs in free agency, bringing in another weapon to a receiving room that no longer has Stefon Diggs.

There's even chatter that A.J. Brown could be headed to New England via trade with Philadelphia on or after June 1. If that happens, Maye's fantasy outlook gets a massive boost with a true WR1 option.

The shoulder passed its real test under the brightest lights. Now Maye and the Patriots are ready to move forward healthy and deeper at receiver heading into the campaign.
