Ed Orgeron Is Back at LSU and College Football Is Still Buzzing About It

Alright, 12s, I know we usually bleed green and blue talkin' about Jaxon Smith-Njigba's routes at Lumen Field or Cal Raleigh's bombs at T-Mobile Park. But sometimes, you gotta look beyond the Emerald City to the chaos that is college football. And trust me, what just dropped? You gotta hear this: Coach O, Ed Orgeron, is back at LSU, linking up with none other than Lane Kiffin! This just dialed it up to eleven, special assistant to recruiting and defense. Talk about a plot twist!

Kiffin's 'Fine System' and Coach O's Comeback: A New Era?

You know Kiffin, right? Always keepin' things interesting. And now, he's just out here revealing an honest-to-goodness NFL-like 'fine system' for his players! Seriously, it's like he's running a pro team. He even spoke about coaching in this wild NIL era, saying it's the wild west and he's bringing structure to it with these fines. Imagine college athletes facing penalties like the pros! This is a massive shift. And get this: joining that mix is the one and only Coach O, Ed Orgeron himself, back in Baton Rouge as a special assistant for recruiting and defense under Kiffin. Orgeron, the guy who knows a thing or two about building champions and bringing the energy, is back in the fold at LSU. This is pure, unadulterated theater, folks. How are players gonna react to NFL-style fines at the college level? And what kind of talent will Orgeron pull in? Every fan is watching this experiment unfold, waiting to see if it's genius or chaos.

The CFP Debate and Coaching Legends Weigh In

And if that wasn't enough drama, the College Football Playoff debate is still raging, and it's all about expansion. Commissioner Tony Petitti is still maintaining his 'deep commitment' to a 24-team CFP. Others are right there with him, like Brett Yormark, the Big 12 Commissioner, who's out here defending the push for more teams, citing the impact of NIL deals on the landscape. You've also got coaches like Bret Bielema talking about the AFCA recommendations and saying they should include 'as many teams as humanly possible.' Everyone's got an opinion on how big this thing should get, especially when you see players like Texas RB Hollywood Smothers inking six-figure NIL deals. The money and stakes are only climbing. Even legendary Urban Meyer has weighed in on the college scene, saying he 'lost a little respect' for Michigan recently, and called Kyle Whittingham a 'perfect fit' at Utah. It makes you wonder how long until we see this bigger playoff format actually in action, changing the face of the sport. So yeah, while we're waiting for Julio Rodriguez to launch another moonshot out of T-Mobile Park or for Joey Daccord to stand on his head for the Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena, the college gridiron scene is electric and demanding attention. Lane Kiffin is out here rewriting the rules of player management, Coach O is back in the fold bringing his fire, and the playoff structure is shifting right under our feet. It's a whole new world in college football, happening right now with massive implications. You can bet Seattle fans, who know a thing or two about passion and high stakes, will be keeping a close eye on how this all shakes out. The next few weeks in college football are gonna be wild, guaranteed.
