Five NFL Teams Just Caught the Luckiest Break of 2026, and Detroit's Grinning All the Way to the Bank

The NFL schedule hasn't dropped yet, but the computer nerds have already done the math. And according to Sharp Football Analysis, five teams are about to walk into the easiest path the league has to offer in 2026. We're talking about softer matchups, fewer playoff-caliber opponents, and a genuine shot to make noise early. The league is pushing the official announcement to later this month (mid-to-late May), but analysts are already ranking who got the hook.

Detroit's Drawing the Softest Road in Football

The Detroit Lions nabbed the No. 1 spot for easiest projected schedule. Sharp Football Analysis crunched the Vegas win totals for all 32 teams and ranked the strength of schedule based on those oddsmaker projections. Detroit comes out on top. This is huge for a Lions team that limped through 2025 and didn't finish the way fans expected. An easier slate in 2026 could be exactly what they need to bounce back fast and prove they're real contenders.

Four More Teams Getting a Gift-Wrapped Schedule

Behind Detroit, the New Orleans Saints slid in at No. 2. New Orleans is still in rebuild mode, and a lighter schedule gives them breathing room to stay competitive longer. The Cincinnati Bengals sit at No. 3 with playoff expectations still alive in a brutal AFC. A softer road could swing things in their favor. The Cleveland Browns landed at No. 4, still hunting for consistency. Fewer tough matchups early could help them build real momentum. And the New York Jets round out the top five at No. 5, desperately needing this kind of break after years of squandering talent.

The official 2026 schedule drops later this month. Until then, fasten your seatbelt because the debate over who actually got blessed by these projections is about to get loud.
