Francisco Alvarez's Meniscus Tear Is Just the Latest Disaster for a Mets Team That Can't Catch a Break

The New York Mets' injury crisis just got worse. Francisco Alvarez is heading to the injured list with a torn meniscus in his right knee, adding another name to an already brutal casualty list that has the front office scrambling and fans holding their breath.

The Injury Keeps Piling Up

It's May 13, and the Mets are 16-25. You know what that record screams? A team that cannot stay healthy. Alvarez was supposed to be part of the core moving forward, and now he's sidelined. The meniscus injury is the kind of thing that doesn't just affect a few games either. This is the sort of setback that can derail an entire season when it happens to a player you're counting on.

The Mets have been hammered by injuries all season long. Just when you think the roster is getting healthy enough to make a run, another guy goes down. It's the kind of cycle that makes managing a roster an absolute nightmare for any team trying to stay competitive in May.

What This Means for the Stretch Ahead

At 16-25, the Mets are already in a tough spot. Losing a piece like Alvarez to the injured list when the team is already struggling is exactly the kind of thing that can separate a season that turns around from one that spirals. The front office has to figure out how to stay afloat while guys are getting healthy, and that's no easy task when you're already underwater in the standings.

The question now is simple: can this team weather another storm? With more losses mounting and another injury announcement, the urgency in Queens just got real for the rest of the season.
