"I Was In Her Ear": JuJu Watkins' 5 Words That Landed USC The Nation's #2 Recruit

Okay, hold up. You thought JuJu Watkins was just out there rehabbing her ACL, right? Guess again! Our dude, the USC star herself, wasn't just chilling. Nope, she was playing GM, and she pulled off a power move that's gonna shake up college hoops. Saniyah Hall, the No. 2 player in the entire 2026 class, according to 247Sports, is officially a Trojan, and JuJu was the secret weapon. This isn't just a commitment, folks. This is a statement, and the college basketball world better be paying attention.

From Coach to Recruiter: JuJu's Stealth Move

So, how did this all go down? Last summer, before Hall had even committed anywhere, Watkins was actually coaching at the Overtime Takeover, a basketball showcase for top high school prospects. Guess who was on her roster? None other than Saniyah Hall, a small forward who was still weighing her college options. You think JuJu let that opportunity slide? Nah, man. Watkins told CBS Sports, "I was in her ear about committing a little bit, hoping that she would come to SC." Talk about putting in work even when you're off the court! Hall announced her commitment to the Trojans last July, and now she's set to officially share the court with Watkins this fall. JuJu is stoked, saying, "Now that she is committed, I'm super excited. I know she is a great player and she is going to add a lot to the team. It will be cool to share the floor with her for sure." You know it will be!

Saniyah Hall: A Gold-Medal Game Changer

And seriously, Hall isn't just any recruit. This is a certified baller. Her resume is absolutely stacked: she helped Team USA win gold at the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup, averaging a USA U19 record 19.9 points per game. She also threw in 6.4 rebounds and 2.9 steals, earning tournament MVP honors while she was at it. Watkins knows talent when she sees it, describing Hall as "so versatile and she is strong." She added, "She can draw so much attention with the ball, whether it be in the post or on the perimeter. Just a very all-around player." That's the kind of player you build a championship contender around, folks.

The Future Is Now for USC Hoops

If anyone understands the pressure and potential of a high-profile freshman, it's Watkins herself. She absolutely exploded onto the scene, setting the NCAA freshman scoring record with a ridiculous 920 points in the 2023-24 season. Unfortunately, she didn't get to finish her sophomore year, tearing her ACL in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. But even while she was recovering, the Trojans didn't skip a beat, thanks to Jazzy Davidson, who took over and led the team in every major category during an outstanding freshman season. Watkins was locked in on Davidson too, saying, "When [Davidson] came on her visit, that's when I was locked in, kept up with everything she had going on." She continued, "She's been a great player for a long time and I think she just made such an improvement her freshman year, learned so much. Can't wait to share the floor with her next season." You've got Watkins, the top recruit in 2023, Davidson, the top recruit in 2025, and now Hall, the No. 2 recruit in 2026, all set to hit the court together. Get ready, college basketball fans, because the next season for USC women's hoops is going to be absolutely electric.
