Jalen Brunson Screamed 'Fuck Wemby,' and Seattle Fans Know Exactly What That Energy Means

Alright, Emerald City! What a wild day it's been in the broader sports world, huh? June 15, 2026, and the big news is rolling in. We just saw two major championship trophies handed out, with the Knicks taking the NBA Finals and the Hurricanes snagging the Stanley Cup. But honestly, while the East Coast is probably still hungover from the celebrations, for us Seattle On Tap fanatics, there's another story that's got our attention, something much closer to our green and blue hearts. We're talking about the USMNT's first game.

Champs Crowned, Cheers Erupt

Look, you gotta respect the hustle. Jalen Brunson, man, he led the Knicks all the way to that NBA Finals victory. And the dude? He was out there toasting, loud and proud, dropping an emphatic "Fuck Wemby" right into the microphone. That's pure, unadulterated championship fire, the kind of raw emotion that makes you love this game, even when it's not our Seattle teams getting the hardware. Meanwhile, over in hockey, the Carolina Hurricanes just proved they were the best, lifting the Stanley Cup. It’s a huge moment for their fans, and it just lights a fire under you, seeing other teams celebrate like that, knowing what it means to win it all.

Our Boys on the World Stage

But let's be totally real, what truly matters to us here in the Pacific Northwest, on this June 15, 2026, is the vibe around our national team. The USMNT played their Game 1, and while the exact score or opponent for our squad isn't explicitly out there yet, you know every single one of us is tracking it like a hawk. Why? Because we've got our guys from the Sounders right there in the mix, representing the Emerald City on the world stage! Cristian Roldan just got that USMNT call-up, and Jordan Morris is always a force to be reckoned with. Every touch, every tackle in that first game is huge, not just for the national team's run, but for showing what our Sounders talent can do. It's about showing the world the caliber of players we grow right here.

And get this, talk about upsets: Cape Verde, a nation with barely over half a million people, managed to tie Spain 0-0! Their 40-year old goalie became a legend overnight. That's the kind of unexpected grit that makes international soccer so compelling, and it just makes you think about the possibilities for any underdog. It sure makes you wonder what kind of surprises the USMNT could be cooking up, especially with our Sounders representing.

What's Next for Seattle's Spirit

So yeah, the NBA and NHL have their champions, and the parties are probably still raging hard. But for us in Seattle, while we tip our hats to the victors, our eyes are firmly planted on the journey ahead, especially with our USMNT. We're cheering on Cristian Roldan, Jordan Morris, and the rest of the squad, hoping to see them make serious waves. These big national and international sports moments, they don't just happen, they fire you up. They remind you why we bleed green and blue, why we show up, and why we're always ready for what's next for our Hawks, Kraken, Mariners, and especially our Sounders. Let's go, Seattle!
