Jersey Smashed Guernsey by 100 Runs TWICE and One Coach Says They're EIGHT Years Behind!
Holy smokes, did you guys SEE what Jersey pulled off this weekend?! We're talking absolute domination, a total beatdown on their home turf at Grainville. They didn't just win their inter-island T20 title, they absolutely *demolished* Guernsey in back-to-back games, cruising to TWO 100-run victories! Can you believe it? This isn't a fluke, either. This makes it five straight titles for Jersey, a streak that’s been going strong since 2022. If this is how they're starting their season, everyone else better watch out!
Merritt and Greechan Lead the Charge in Game One Blowout
The first game was a clinic, plain and simple. Jersey came out swinging, putting up a solid 160-7. Analise Merritt was absolutely electric, smashing 52 runs, and Erin Duffy came in clutch with a 21 not out. You could feel the momentum building! But then, Jersey's bowlers stepped up and just shut Guernsey down. They bowled their rivals out for a measly 60 runs in just 17.5 overs. Seriously, only one Guernsey batter, Elise Millington, even hit double figures with 19! Jersey skipper Chloe Greechan was unbelievable, ripping through their lineup with a stellar 3-6. That's the kind of performance that tells you everything about a team's killer instinct right from the jump.

You'd think after a blowout like that, Jersey might ease off the gas, right? WRONG. They came back even harder in the second game, leaving no doubt who runs this island. Aimee Aikenhead was an absolute beast at the crease, blasting a high score of 85 off just 64 balls! And get this, Analise Merritt wasn't done either, dropping another 50 runs. These two put on a ridiculous 133-run second-wicket stand, propelling Jersey to a massive 188-5. Guernsey, bless their hearts, just couldn't keep up, finishing their 20 overs at 88-7. Katie Robert tried to rally with 18 not out, and openers Molly Robinson (17) and Francesca Bulpitt (10) had a decent 29-run partnership, but it was all for naught. Jersey's medium pacer Olivia Bastin was lights out, snagging 3-13, and once again, no other Guernsey batter could even crack double digits. Talk about dominant!
What This Win Means For the Season Ahead
Jersey skipper Chloe Greechan summed it up perfectly after the game, telling BBC Radio Jersey, "It's a great start to the season with two wins over Guernsey on your home turf in front of friends and family. It's always nice to get the win let alone put out that sort of dominant performance." You can feel the pride, right? This is a team that knows how to win and they're not shy about it. On the flip side, Guernsey women's head coach Ilze van der Westhuizen was brutally honest, admitting they're "probably about five to eight years behind them if you look at skill and pathway systems." She wants to see that gap get "a little bit smaller in the next three to five years." Yikes! That's a massive gulf to overcome, and it shows just how high Jersey has set the bar. Can they keep this dynasty rolling? You bet they can! Get ready for more fireworks, because this Jersey squad is a force to be reckoned with this season!
