Jose Mourinho Is Back and Antonio Rudiger Is Finally Getting His Wish
Holy smokes, you guys! We've got some wild news dropping from across the pond, and it's got one of Real Madrid's biggest leaders absolutely buzzing. Antonio Rudiger, the man who bleeds white and has been a rock for the Merengue, just got what he's been chasing for ages. Not only did he officially renew his contract for another year, guaranteeing his spot, but a certain "Special One" is finally taking over the bench, and Rudiger is pumped!
The "Special One" Arrives, Rudiger Is Hyped!
Ever since Rudiger landed at Real Madrid, he's been the heart of that dressing room and a force on the field. His experience, his mentality, his sheer commitment, you see it in every single game. And get this, his leadership is about to go through the roof next year because Real Madrid lost two other absolute legends, Dani Carvajal and David Alaba, at the end of last season. But the biggest news? Jose Mourinho is back! Rudiger is currently repping Germany in the World Cup, but MARCA caught him at a presser, and he couldn't hold back his excitement about finally playing under Mourinho.

"I can't say too much, but I can say that I'm extremely excited. At last, I'm going to get the chance to play under him," Rudiger spilled. He added that "in the past, there were many conversations with him, but for one reason or another it never happened. That's why I'm even happier now to welcome him to our team." You can feel the energy in that quote, right? This is a player who has wanted this for a long time, and it's finally happening!
Battles, Loyalty, and a "Pure Gold" Left Foot
It hasn't all been smooth sailing for Rudiger, though. He opened up about a tough year last season, especially with injuries. "I had a difficult year last season, especially physically. I had to fight through a lot of injuries and managed to come back," he shared. But through it all, his loyalty to Madrid never wavered. "Madrid is practically my home. I feel very comfortable there, and so does my family, which is why I never really thought about anything else. I just wanted to get fit again and earn my new contract. And I did." He even doubled down, saying, "Madrid is my home; I never thought about leaving." Talk about dedication!
And speaking of new additions, Rudiger also threw some serious praise for Bundesliga star Nico Schlotterbeck. When asked about him, Rudiger was clearly ecstatic. "First of all, good players are always welcome. I can't really say much more than that. I'd be absolutely delighted." He didn't stop there, highlighting Schlotterbeck's attacking prowess. "Especially on offensive set pieces, he was always a danger to the opposition. In one-on-one duels he was very intense and fully focused. And with Nico, you also have to highlight his excellent distribution from the back. Honestly, his left foot is pure gold. You have to give him credit for that." He closed it by saying, "I don't know much about the situation, but I'd be absolutely delighted if Schlotterbeck signed for Real Madrid." That's a ringing endorsement from a teammate!
Eyes on the Prize: Trophies Ahead?
Look, the last two years have been rough for Real Madrid, trophyless and tough, but Rudiger is still brimming with confidence. "The last two years at Real Madrid have been tough. We haven't been successful. But if you look at the profile of players we have there, players like Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, or Vinícius are exactly the kind of footballers who step up when you need decisive players in the biggest moments." If Schlotterbeck does join, that could be a killer defensive pairing with Rudiger. But with Dean Huijsen, Eder Militao, Ibrahima Konate, and Raul Asencio all battling for those center-back spots, Mourinho's got some serious decisions to make. The World Cup is just getting started, but the drama in Madrid is already heating up!
