Kansas City Is About to Flip the Script on Detroit, and the Tigers Can't Stop the Bleeding

Last month, the Detroit Tigers walked into Kansas City and swept a three-game series. Now it's payback time, and the Royals are absolutely rolling.

On Sunday night, the host Royals have a chance to hand the reeling Tigers a season-high sixth straight defeat. That's right, sixth straight. Detroit is in free fall, and Kansas City smells blood in the water.

Wacha Was Untouchable, and the Royals Just Keep Winning

Michael Wacha put on a masterclass Saturday night, allowing just two hits over seven scoreless innings. That's the kind of dominant pitching that turns a series around. Meanwhile, Bobby Witt Jr. did Bobby Witt Jr. things, crushing a two-run inside-the-park homer that had the crowd going nuts. Michael Massey added a conventional three-run shot to put things out of reach.

The Royals beat the Tigers on Saturday and extended Detroit's skid to five games with that performance. When your starting pitcher is that good and your bats are that hot, you're going to win a lot of games.

Detroit's Nightmare Week Just Keeps Getting Worse

This is what a complete collapse looks like. The Tigers came in hot off a series sweep in April, but they've been tumbling ever since. Five straight losses is brutal at any point in the season, and a sixth would be historic for how bad things have gotten in Detroit right now.

The Royals are on fire, the Tigers are ice cold, and Sunday night in Kansas City could get real ugly real fast.

Watch for the Royals to keep their foot on the gas. This is the kind of momentum that can carry a team through the season.
