Mario Cristobal Is Winning the Battle for Ezekiel Ayangbile and Lane Kiffin Has a Problem
The recruiting war for one of the nation's top defensive prospects just shifted hard in Miami's favor, and Lane Kiffin's LSU Tigers are feeling the heat. Ezekiel Ayangbile, an elite edge rusher and son of five-time Pro Bowl lineman Duane Brown, is being chased by multiple major programs. But according to insider Alex Donno on Locked On Canes, Miami's momentum has gotten noticeably stronger, especially after Ayangbile's recent visit to LSU.
The Recruiting Bloodline Matters
Ayangbile comes from serious football pedigree. His father Duane Brown made five Pro Bowls as a lineman, and both of his parents were former athletes at Virginia Tech. That legacy connection is exactly why Virginia Tech has stayed in the hunt for the highly regarded prospect. But it's not enough to beat Miami's surge right now.

Donno explained that Ayangbile comes from "super athletic parenting," a phrase that captures just how valuable this recruitment is across the board. Even though LSU still holds recruiting advantages in the region, Miami appears to be building the kind of momentum that could flip this race.
The Recent LSU Visit Changed Nothing
Here's the kicker: Ayangbile took a recent visit to LSU, but it didn't slow down Miami's push at all. In fact, Donno noted that "even though he had a recent visit to LSU, the Miami trends have actually gotten even stronger since the LSU visit," calling it "a pretty good sign for Miami." That's the kind of momentum that makes Kiffin nervous.
This recruiting battle is far from settled until a final commitment arrives. But right now, Cristobal and the Hurricanes are holding all the momentum. Kiffin will need to find a way to turn this around or watch another elite prospect slip away to South Florida.
