Paul Skenes Threw 8 Shutout Innings and the Pirates Aren't Done Yet
Paul Skenes was absolutely dominant on Wednesday night, firing eight strong innings as the Pittsburgh Pirates blanked the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Pirates picked up a crucial win and are now pushing hard to take the series.
Skenes Was in Complete Control
This is the kind of performance that gets you talking come playoff time. Skenes gave the Pirates exactly what they needed: eight solid innings with nothing to show for it on the board for Arizona. When your starter is that locked in, everything else feels possible. The Diamondbacks couldn't find an answer, and the Pirates made them pay for it with the shutout victory.

The Pirates are buoyed by this shutout win and looking to pursue a series victory over the D-backs. That's the position you want to be in. Win game three and you're in the driver's seat heading back home. This is early season baseball at its best: a team with good pitching putting pressure on an opponent and seeing if they can finish the job.
Skenes gave Pittsburgh everything they could ask for. Now it's on the rest of the lineup to finish what he started.
