Rodón Feels "Ready" and the Yankees Are Getting Their Ace Back Sunday

The Yankees are about to get healthier. Carlos Rodón, the left-hander who's been sidelined to start the season, is likely to make his season debut this Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers, manager Aaron Boone said. And that's huge for New York because they've been running without one of their top arms.

Rodón Is Finally Ready to Go

Boone made it clear that Rodón feels "ready" to take the mound. After dealing with whatever kept him off the roster early in the season, the left-hander is primed to slot back into the rotation. Sunday's start against Milwaukee would be his first appearance of 2026, and the timing couldn't be better for a Yankees team that's been counting down the days to get its ace back on the hill.

Cole Still Has Work to Do

Gerrit Cole isn't quite there yet. The right-hander is slated to make two or three more rehab starts before he rejoins the active roster and returns to the Yankees rotation. That means Cole's timeline is a bit longer than Rodón's, but once both pitchers are healthy and pitching, New York's rotation is going to look completely different.

The Yankees Are Ramping Up

Getting Rodón back Sunday and Cole soon after is a massive boost for the Yankees as they push through the early part of the season. Two premium arms coming back into the fold changes the conversation about what this team can do over the next few months. Boone and the front office have been patient, but the cavalry is arriving, and the Brewers are about to see it firsthand on Sunday.
