Their defense, anchored by senior center back Caleb Wallace, has also proven formidable when it matters most, allowing few easy opportunities for their opponents.

Across the field, the Mercer Island Islanders, led by veteran coach David Chen, have forged their path to the championship with tactical brilliance and a rock-solid defense. Hailing from the competitive KingCo 3A conference, the Islanders navigated a brutal schedule with resilience, securing crucial wins and building momentum into the postseason. Their semifinal clash saw them outmaneuver a strong Peninsula team, with senior goalkeeper Sam Harrison making several incredible saves to preserve a crucial clean sheet. Mercer Island's strength lies in their disciplined formation and the ability of their midfield, particularly creative playmaker Leo Martinez, to control the tempo of the game and launch dangerous counter-attacks. They are a team that plays with intelligence and composure, rarely rattled by pressure.
