The 2028 NFL Draft Is Headed To Minneapolis and The Emerald City Is Still Waiting For Its Shot

Alright, 12s, let's talk about the future, because some news just hit the wire that has us thinking about where the NFL's biggest events are headed. Reports are circulating that Minneapolis is expected to host the 2028 NFL Draft. Yeah, you heard that right. Minneapolis. While good for them, it's hard not to feel a bit of a sting here in the Emerald City, knowing we deserve that spotlight.

The League's Biggest Showcase Heads East

Let's be real, the NFL Draft is more than just picking college players. It's a massive league-wide party, a huge economic boost, and a chance for a city to really show off its culture and its fan base to the entire football world. When you hear about a host city being picked, you instantly think about the energy, the excitement, and the sheer volume of fans pouring in. It's a moment when the entire league's eyes are on one spot. And for 2028, it looks like that spot won't be on the Puget Sound, but rather in the Twin Cities. The reports are pretty clear: Minneapolis is the expected destination.

Why Seattle Needs to Be Next

This isn't just about some distant date on the calendar, folks. This is about recognition. We're the 12s! We pack Lumen Field week after week, making it one of the toughest places for any opposing team to play. Our city is vibrant, our food scene is insane, and our passion for sports is unmatched. Think about the atmosphere we could create for a draft! We’ve got a young, hungry Seahawks squad with Sam Darnold under center, slinging it to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rashid Shaheed, and the veteran Cooper Kupp. Coach Macdonald is building something special here this early season, a team ready to make noise. Why isn't the NFL looking at *us* for these prime events? We consistently show up for our Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena, for the Sounders at Lumen Field with Cristian Roldan and Jordan Morris, and for our Mariners at T-Mobile Park with Julio Rodriguez and Cal Raleigh. It’s time the NFL recognized the force that is Seattle sports. So, yeah, Minneapolis gets their moment in 2028. We'll tip our cap. But let this be a call to action for everyone who bleeds green and blue. We've got a case to make. In the meantime, let's keep our focus on what's happening right now on the field. The early season is in full swing, and our Seahawks are just getting started. Let's make so much noise this year that the league *has* to bring the next big thing to the Emerald City. Keep those eyes peeled for the next game, because every snap matters, every win builds our case. Go Hawks!
