The 52 Words Brendan Sorsby Said And Why The NFL Still Has No Idea What Happens Next

Alright, 12s, buckle up, because there's some wild stuff brewing in the NFL world that has implications way beyond the current season. Brendan Sorsby, a name you might be hearing more of soon, just made a move that basically slams the door shut on his college career and throws him straight into the professional football unknown. We're talking about the guy applying for the NFL supplemental draft, and frankly, his "statement" about it left everyone scratching their heads more than a rookie trying to read Mike Macdonald's defense. This kid is done with college, done with legal battles, and ready for the pros, but the way he announced it? Phew.

Sorsby's College Journey Hits The Wall (Hard)

So, let's break down Sorsby's wild ride. After spending two years each at Indiana and Cincinnati, his college football chapter is officially closed. No more eligibility, no more Saturday afternoons in pads for a university. The most surprising part? He won't ever play a down for Texas Tech, even though he had this whole temporary injunction in Lubbock County, Texas, that was supposed to restore his NCAA eligibility for 2026. Yeah, you heard that right. He's actually gonna dismiss that lawsuit. This isn't just a player transferring, this is a full-blown declaration that the college game is in his rearview mirror. Texas Tech's Board of Regents chairman, Cody Campbell, along with President Lawrence Schovanec and Athletics Director Kirby Hocutt, even put out a statement on behalf of the school. But trust me, that wasn't the statement everyone's talking about.

The Statement That Said Absolutely Nothing, But Means Everything

Here’s where it gets really interesting, and honestly, kinda confusing. After all the college drama, Brendan Sorsby himself decided to drop his own statement on social media. And what did he say, you ask? "I am grateful for the support from my family, my Tech coaching staff, teammates, the community and so many others who have encouraged me to address and learn more about this important issue. As my journey continues, I remain fully committed to and focused on being the best I can be both on and off the field." That's it. All 52 words. And let me tell you, if you were looking for answers, you got absolutely none. The source reporting this flat out said, "The statement says nothing, leaving Sorsby with plenty of questions to answer." Seriously, man, what "important issue" are we talking about? This is about as clear as Puget Sound fog on a December morning. What does this all mean? Sorsby is now heading for the NFL supplemental draft, an avenue for players who become eligible after the regular draft has passed. For teams across the league, including our very own Seahawks, this means a new, albeit mysterious, prospect just landed on the board. We're always looking for talent, and while we don't know his position from this statement, any time a player with his college background declares this way, it's worth keeping an eye on. Who knows what questions NFL scouts will be asking him, but you can bet the 12s will be watching to see if this kid has what it takes to make it in the big leagues.
