Houston's Injury Crisis Is About to Meet Seattle's Best Lineup, and the Astros Have a Real Problem

The Mariners are rolling into Houston for a series that could not come at a worse time for the Astros. While Seattle is firing on all cylinders with Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez leading the charge, Houston is dealing with a catastrophic injury situation that just keeps getting worse. Carlos Correa is out for the season with an ankle injury. Bennett Sousa landed on the 15-day IL with left elbow inflammation. Hunter Brown is on the 60-day IL. This is not a team firing on all cylinders right now.

Houston's House Is on Fire

The Astros have had to make serious roster moves just to stay functional. They recalled infielder Shay Whitcomb to help fill the void left by Correa's season-ending injury. That tells you everything you need to know about where this team is at right now. When you are pulling guys up from the minors to patch holes in your everyday lineup, you are in serious trouble.

The pitching rotation is in shambles too. Between Sousa and Brown both sidelined, Houston has to piece together a rotation on the fly. Meanwhile, Seattle is about to roll out lineups built to capitalize on exactly this kind of chaos.

Seattle Comes in Hot

The Mariners have the horses to punish a wounded team. Raleigh behind the plate and Rodriguez roaming center field give Seattle a legitimate one-two punch that can carry games. This is the time to strike, and the boys in green and blue know it.

Houston needed a new plan after the Correa injury. Instead, they got a reality check. Seattle is about to deliver another one.
