Kendry Rojas Is Back With the Twins and Kody Funderburk Is Heading Down

The Minnesota Twins recalled left-hander Kendry Rojas from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday, bringing the 23-year-old back for his second stint with the team this season. In a corresponding move, they optioned fellow left-hander Kody Funderburk to the affiliate.

Rojas Getting Another Chance After Solid Start

Rojas made his major league debut on April 22 against the New York Mets, where he threw two scoreless innings while allowing two hits and three walks in a no-decision. Since heading back to Triple-A, he has been impressive, posting a 1-1 record with a 2.20 ERA across six appearances (two starts) for St. Paul. That kind of performance at the Triple-A level caught the Twins' attention, and now the young lefty gets another shot at the big league level.

Funderburk Takes the Option Path

Funderburk, 29, had carved out a role in Minnesota's bullpen this season with a 1-1 record, one save, and a 2.81 ERA over 19 relief appearances. He has been a fixture for the Twins since 2023, appearing in 96 games total and collecting three saves and 20 holds during his tenure. The move sends him back down to continue getting work at the Triple-A level as the Twins adjust their roster depth.

This is the kind of organizational shuffling that happens early in the season as teams figure out what works. Rojas gets a chance to prove his April debut was not a fluke, while Funderburk heads back to St. Paul to work on his craft. Keep an eye on both of these arms as the Twins continue to evaluate their pitching mix.
