Both teams stand at 0-0, offering a blank slate and the promise of a thrilling season opener at 5:00 PM at Skyline High School.

For these young athletes, this isn't just another game, it's the culmination of months of offseason work, summer camps, and relentless practice. It's a chance to make their mark, push their limits, and contribute to their school's proud athletic tradition. The KingCo 4A league is known for its fierce competition, and this JV clash will set the tone for the journey ahead.

Spartans Look to Maintain Momentum

The Skyline Spartans closed out their previous JV season with significant momentum, showcasing a dominant performance in their final five games. Coach Amanda "Mandy" Reed, known for her strategic play-calling and focus on player development, will be looking to build on that success. The Spartans secured impressive victories, including a 56-39 win over Sammamish and a commanding 54-27 triumph against Newport. Their offensive firepower was on full display with a 63-49 win over Issaquah and a solid 50-35 victory against Mercer Island, demonstrating their ability to score consistently and defend with intensity.

Rising stars like guard Maya Jensen, who showed flashes of brilliant court vision and a smooth jump shot last season, and tenacious forward Olivia Chen, whose rebounding and interior presence were pivotal, are expected to lead the charge. This group of Spartans is eager to start their 2026-27 campaign with a win on their home court, fueled by the energy of their passionate local support.

Eastlake Seeks Fresh Start

The Eastlake Wolves, under the guidance of veteran coach David Miller, will be looking to turn the page and start fresh after a challenging end to their previous JV season. While they faced tough KingCo opponents, including losses to formidable teams like Woodinville (43-57) and Bothell (24-52), the Wolves also proved their capability with a dominant 48-8 victory over Interlake. That win highlighted their potential for defensive shutdowns and efficient offense when everything clicked. Their narrow 42-46 loss to Lake Washington also showed their fighting spirit, pushing a strong opponent to the brink.

Expect players like forward Chloe Adams, whose tireless work ethic and knack for clutch baskets make her a force, and dynamic point guard Sophia Rodriguez, known for her quick hands and ability to drive to the rim, to be key figures for the Wolves. Coach Miller emphasizes resilience and teamwork, and Eastlake will undoubtedly bring a disciplined and determined effort to Sammamish, ready to showcase their growth and potential.

This early season KingCo 4A JV contest between Eastlake and Skyline is more than just a game, it's a preview of the varsity talent that will soon grace the state tournament courts. It’s where the foundational skills are honed and competitive spirit truly blossoms. Both teams will be pushing hard to secure the first win of their 2026-27 season, promising an electrifying start to the basketball calendar.
