Liberty Christian and Colton Are On Fire, But the 1B State Softball Bracket Means ONE Loss Kills Everything

Alright, Seattle, buckle up! Forget whatever else you thought was happening in Washington sports, because the WIAA 1B Softball State Championship is about to hit us like a fastball to the gut, and it is going to be INTENSE. This isn't some exhibition, folks. We're talking single-elimination, winner-take-all softball, with teams from all over our incredible state battling it out. Starting May 21, every pitch, every swing, every out means everything, leading up to the championship game on May 23. You know we love our champions here, and we're about to crown a new one!

The Bracket is Set: Who's Hot and Who's Got a Shot?

The road to glory is laid out, and let me tell you, there are some absolute powerhouses in this bracket. Our top seed, Liberty Christian, comes in with a RIDICULOUS 8-0 league record and an 18-2 overall. Are you kidding me? They've been playing at another level all season, and they are definitely the team to beat. But don't sleep on some of these other squads. Almira-Coulee-Hartline, coming in at the #3 seed, also went undefeated in league play with a 6-0 record and a 12-5 overall. That's a serious contender right there, and they've got the momentum you want heading into the playoffs. Then you look down at the #6 seed, Colton, who boasts an unbelievable 9-0 league record and a 15-1 overall. Talk about a team nobody wants to see on their side of the bracket, right? It's clear that these teams are coming in red-hot, and with single elimination, any of them could make a run.

First Round Face-Offs: Prepare for Mayhem

The first round on May 21 is going to be a whirlwind, with four matchups kicking off at 3:00 PM. We've got Colton, the #6 seed, going head-to-head with Muckleshoot Tribal. This is going to be a battle from the jump, and Colton's nearly perfect record makes them a scary opponent for anyone. Then, Naselle takes on Quilcene, another showdown where anything can happen. Wilbur-Creston is matched up against Wahkiakum, and you know both teams will leave it all on the field in that one. And finally, Dayton faces off against Ocosta. The stakes couldn't be higher, because one bad inning, one miscue, and your season is over. That's the beauty and the heartbreak of single-elimination tournaments, isn't it? Every game is a must-watch! This is it, fans! Our Washington high school athletes are stepping onto the biggest stage of their season. With the championship game slated for 3:30 PM on May 23, the next few days are going to be packed with incredible softball action. Who's gonna bring home the hardware? Who's going to rise to the occasion? You know we'll be watching every step of the way, cheering on these incredible athletes from right here in the Emerald City! Let's go, Washington!
