Ridgeview Girls Basketball Dominates KingCo 4A, Eyes State Title

The hardwoods of Washington State are ablaze with the incredible performance of the Ridgeview High School girls basketball team, who just clinched their KingCo 4A league title with an undefeated 14-0 record, extending their formidable winning streak to 18 games. This powerhouse squad, ranked number one in the state for 4A by the WIAA, is not just winning, they are dominating, and Seattle On Tap is here to tell you why they are the team to watch as the state tournament approaches.

Dominant Season, Dynamic Duo

At the heart of Ridgeview's success is senior guard Maya Rodriguez, a true floor general whose vision, scoring prowess, and relentless defense have been nothing short of spectacular. Averaging a remarkable 22 points, 7 assists, and 5 steals per game, Rodriguez leads by example, inspiring her teammates with every play. Her leadership has been instrumental in the team's stunning 23-1 overall record. Not far behind is junior forward Chloe Davis, a force in the paint who consistently delivers double-doubles, providing the crucial interior presence that complements Rodriguez's perimeter brilliance. Davis's tenacity on the boards and her clutch scoring have been critical in many tight contests, making Ridgeview a threat both inside and out. The synergy between Rodriguez and Davis is palpable on the court, demonstrating a deep understanding and trust that elevates the entire team's performance.

Coaching Excellence and Unyielding Defense

Head Coach Brenda Lee, in her fifth season at Ridgeview, has meticulously built this program into a consistent contender. Her strategic acumen and ability to foster a cohesive team environment are evident in every disciplined possession and suffocating defensive stand. Coach Lee's emphasis on fundamental excellence and teamwork has clearly paid off, making Ridgeview a formidable opponent for anyone in the state. Their latest triumph came last Tuesday in a decisive 68-45 victory over perennial KingCo rival Eastlake High School, a game where Rodriguez dropped 30 points and Davis grabbed 15 rebounds, effectively sealing their perfect league run. This win underscored their readiness for the high-stakes WIAA 4A State Tournament. With a stifling defense that allows opponents an average of just 38 points per game, and an offense that can score in myriad ways, Ridgeview has consistently proven their mettle against the toughest competition.

The Road Ahead: WIAA State Tournament

The team's commitment to excellence, seen in every practice and every game, reflects the deep dedication these young athletes pour into their craft. They represent the very best of Washington State prep sports, showcasing heart, hustle, and an unwavering drive to win. The entire Ridgeview squad, including key contributors like senior shooting guard Sarah Chen, who consistently knocks down critical three-pointers, embodies the spirit of champions. As districts loom and the path to the Tacoma Dome narrows, the pressure will intensify, but Ridgeview has shown they thrive under such circumstances. Their perfect KingCo 4A record and top ranking are not just accolades, they are testaments to the hard work, sacrifice, and collective spirit of every player and coach. The Ridgeview Panthers are on a mission, and the entire state of Washington will be watching to see if they can cap off this incredible season with the ultimate prize: a WIAA 4A State Championship trophy.
