A Versatile Defensive Force for the Huskies

Tunuufi made 52 appearances for Washington over four seasons after playing high school football at East High in Salt Lake City. He joined the program under coach Jimmy Lake in 2021 and went on to play under two other head coaches, Kalen DeBoer and Jedd Fisch. His versatility made him a critical piece of the defensive line, particularly during his senior season.

Over his time at UW, Tunuufi racked up 14 starts, 86 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, two passes defended, and a forced fumble. His last appearance in a Huskies uniform came in the 2024 Sun Bowl.

Tunuufi declared for the 2025 NFL Draft and participated in Washington's Pro Day, though he was not selected and did not receive a rookie minicamp invite. Rather than give up on his football aspirations, he remained in shape with plans to pursue opportunities in the CFL or UFL.

His high school coach Brandon Matich spoke to Tunuufi's character and ability: "He's the best football player I ever coached. And he was an even better person. Everybody loved Voi." Matich noted that Tunuufi was the first freshman to start for him and one of only two players to start all four years during his 15-year tenure at East High.

Our thoughts are with the Tunuufi family during this devastating time.
