Shorewood's Relentless Drive to the Final

The Shorewood Stormrays, representing the Edmonds School District, have been a force to be reckoned with throughout the 2026 season. Under the shrewd guidance of head coach David Miller, the Stormrays have showcased a blend of offensive firepower and defensive solidity that has proven difficult for opponents to overcome. Their journey to the final has been marked by dominant performances, including clutch victories in the District 1/2 playoffs. Senior forward Alex Chen has been an absolute revelation, consistently finding the back of the net with his blistering pace and clinical finishing, making him one of the top scorers in the 3A classification. Complementing Chen's scoring prowess is the midfield general, junior Mateo Rodriguez, whose vision and passing accuracy orchestrate much of Shorewood's attacking flow. Protecting their goal with unwavering determination is senior goalkeeper Ethan Kim, whose acrobatic saves and commanding presence have stifled many an opposing attack, earning the Stormrays numerous clean sheets. This squad embodies resilience, and they are hungry for the state title.

Mercer Island's Path of Precision and Grit

Across the Puget Sound, the Mercer Island Islanders, hailing from the KingCo Conference, have charted an equally impressive course to the championship game. Coached by the experienced and strategic Sarah Jenkins, the Islanders have cultivated a reputation for tactical discipline and unwavering grit. Their defense, anchored by senior captain Liam O'Connell, is notoriously difficult to break down, consistently frustrating even the most potent offenses. O'Connell's leadership from the back has been pivotal in their stingy defensive record. In the midfield, junior Noah Davis is the engine room, relentlessly winning balls and distributing with precision, fueling Mercer Island's counter-attacks. Upfront, junior striker Daniel Garcia possesses a knack for scoring crucial goals, often delivering in high-pressure situations when his team needs it most. The Islanders' ability to control possession and execute their game plan with precision has made them a formidable opponent, and they are arriving in Puyallup with a clear objective: to bring the gold ball back to Mercer Island.

A Championship Clash of Styles

This championship promises to be a captivating chess match between two well-coached teams with distinct strengths. Shorewood's aggressive, dynamic attack against Mercer Island's disciplined, organized defense.
