The Washington Huskies went to Rutgers on Friday night in their first ever road game in the Big 10 and were defeated 21-18. But the story of the game is more than the score. The Huskies lost in what was one of the most frustrating games I can remember off the top of my head. There was no reason to lose that game.

The Huskies lost 21-18 while outgaining Rutgers 521 yards to 299 yards. The Huskies had 23 first downs compared to Rutgers' 15 first downs. However, the Huskies were 2-12 on third downs. The Huskies even had zero turnovers. But kicker Grady Gross went 1-4 on field goals (the last one was tough), and the Huskies failed a fourth and goal situation. And to make matters worse, right before halftime, the Huskies blocked a field goal and, while the ball was still live a player ran on the field to celebrate, and it resulted in a penalty and a touchdown right after for Rutgers.
The Washington Huskies are now 3-2 and in both of their losses penalties and mistakes have cost them.Washington blocked a field goal but a freshman ran onto the field before the play was dead…
