York Sends Flyers Past Penguins in Game 6 OT, First Round Done

The Philadelphia Flyers are moving on. York walked it in during overtime in Game 6 and that's all she wrote for Pittsburgh. The Penguins' first round run is over, and the questions are already starting to pile up about what's next for their top guys.

One Shot, One Series

This wasn't some epic seven game battle. The Flyers closed it out at home in six, and it came down to one moment in OT. York's name is going to be in the highlight reel for a while on this one. When you're facing elimination, you need someone to step up, and the Flyers had their guy ready.

Pittsburgh's Slow Starts Keep Haunting Them

The reporting after the loss pointed to slow starts as a major factor in the Penguins' ouster. That's the kind of thing that sticks with a team. You can't spot playoff teams early leads and expect to survive. Pittsburgh found out the hard way that consistency matters when the games mean everything.

The Big Picture

Now the Flyers are heading to the second round to face the Hurricanes. Carolina earned their own ticket out of the first round and they're waiting. The Penguins will spend the offseason wondering what could have been and whether their core is still built to compete when it matters most. That's the harsh reality of playoff hockey. One team celebrates. The other goes home.
